Dubai is one of the seven emirates that are together known as the Emirates, United Arab Emirates, or UAE. World’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa stands in Dubai with the height of 2,722 feet. The building was designed by Adrian Smith of the Skidmore, Owings and Merrill firm which was headquartered in Chicago. It was opened in 2010 as part of the development project called Downtown Dubai and was named after Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the UAE.


There are two observation decks that visitors are allowed to visit. At the top, on the 124th floor was opened on 5 January 2010 which is at the height of 1,483 feet. It was the world's highest outdoor observation deck at that time.


After Cloud Top 488 was started on the Canton Tower in China which has the height of 1,601 feet, Burj Khalifa officially opened the 148th floor called SKY level at 1,821 ft and reclaimed its position as the world’s highest observation deck.


Dubai is situated in a stable zone. Thus, have a minimal risk of tsunamis or earthquakes. As the Persian Gulf waters are not so deep, they cannot trigger a tsunami.


Due to a desert climate, most of the days in Dubai are sunny. January is the coldest month with an average daytime temperature of 75 °F and the average overnight low temperature of 57 °F. There are no natural rivers in Dubai, but it does have a natural inlet, i.e., Dubai Creek. It runs northeast-southwest and has been dredged for making it deep enough so that large vessels can easily pass through.


Dubai is also famous as the shopping capital of the Middle East with over seventy shopping centers. Also, Dubai Mall is the largest shopping center worldwide and home to 1,200 shops.


There are two major holidays that Dubai celebrates, Eid al Fitr, the day that marks the end of Ramadan, and second is the December 2 National Day, to commemorate the formation of the United Arab Emirates.


It was in 1995 that the internet was first made available in Dubai. The content is regulated throughout the city, and servers filter the content that seems inconsistent with the values.
